Taxonomy
Cirolanidae was named by Dana (1852). It is extant. Its type is Cirolana.

It was assigned to Flabellifera by Brooks et al. (1969) and Wieder and Feldmann (1989); to Isopoda by Feldmann and Rust (2006); to Cirolanoidea by Feldmann et al. (2008) and Etter (2014); and to Cymothooidea by Wilson and Morel (2022).
