Wakaleo vanderleueri

Taxonomy
Wakaleo vanderleueri was named by Clemens and Plane (1974). Its type specimen is CP 13527, a mandible (right mandibular fragment containing M1), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Small Hills locality, which is in a Miocene terrestrial limestone in the Camfield Beds Formation of Australia.

A. K. Gillespie et al. 2014This revision relates only to features of the dentition. Wakaleo vanderleueri differs from W. oldfieldi in having: P3 larger absolutely and relative to M1; M3 oval in outline, bearing a small longitudinal ridge and lacking a crenulated talonid basin; M1‒2 with much taller buccal margin relative to the lingual margin such that the paracone and metacone are distinctly taller than the protocone; and M3 with anterior cingulum.
