Taxonomy
Castromys littoralis was named by Martin Suarez and Freudenthal (1994) [This is the type species for the genus Castromys.]. It is not extant. Its type specimen is RGM 413092, a tooth (M1 sin.). Its type locality is Crevillente 17, which is in a MN 12 terrestrial horizon in Spain.
