Taxonomy
Desmanodon burkarti was named by van den Hoek Ostende (1997). It is not extant. Its type specimen is MTA Ke-6771, a tooth (M2 sup. sin.). Its type locality is Keseköy, which is in a MN 3 lacustrine claystone/coal in Turkey.

L. W. van den Hoek Ostende 1997 | Desmanodon burkarti is a medium-sized species of Desmanodon (M2=1.85). The talonid of the m1 is only somewhat wider than the trigonid. The mesostyle of the upper molars is clearly divided. The protoconule is usually present on the M2, rarely on the M1. The cingulums on the p4 and P4 are well developed. |
