Thalassoleon inouei
Taxonomy
Thalassoleon inouei was named by Kohno (1992). Its type specimen is CBM-PV 087, a partial skull (basicranial region of skull, left dentary with C, P/2-M/2 and right dentary with C, P/2-P/4), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Matsukura Industry Co., Ltd. Stone Quarry, which is in a Messinian/Zanclean marine sandstone in the Senhata Formation of Japan.
