Propliopithecus ankeli
Taxonomy
Propliopithecus ankeli was named by Simons et al. (1987). Its type specimen is CGM 42847, a maxilla, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Quarry V (Jebel Qatrani Formation), which is in a Rupelian fluvial sandstone/mudstone in the Jebel Qatrani Formation of Egypt.
