Taxonomy
Cypris was named by Müller (1776). It is extant. It is the type genus of Cyprididae, Cypridinae.

It was assigned to Aptera by Müller (1776); and to Cypridinae by Van Itterbeeck et al. (2007) and Martens and Savatenalinton (2011).
