---|---|---|
H. Tong et al. 1998 | Bothremydid pleurodire (sensu Meylan, 1996) with the following bothremydid synapomorphies: quadrate-basisphenoid covers prootic ventrally, stapedial canal opens anteriorly, eustachian tube separated from incisura columellae auris; skull similar to Polysternon provinciale in being wedge-shaped with a posteriorly expanded triturating surface, moderately developed temporal emargination, and ventrally opening concavities formed by pterygoid and basisphenoid (also in Rosasia); differs from Polysternon provinciale in having an anteriorly wider triturating surface, a deeper pterygoid-basisphenoid concavity, and a more anterior condylus occipitalis; differs from Bothremys, Taphrosphys, and Rosasia in having a slitlike but open incisura columellae auris; differs from Bothremys and Rosasia in having a flat triturating surface; shell similar to Polysternon but lacking the nuchal emargination and having a relatively large intergular scute and a rounded anal notch. | |
E. S. Gaffney et al. 2006 | A bothremydid pleurodire of the subtribe Foxemydina with the following characters differentiating it from Polysternon: fossa pterygoidea deeper than in Polysternon; orbital rim low, as in Bothremys, not high, as in Polysternon; triturating surfaces very wide, as in Bothremys and Chedighaii, in contrast to narrower, as in Polysternon; condylus mandibularis close to level of condylus occipitalis, as in most Bothremydini but in contrast to Polysternon; shell similar to Polysternon but lacking the parallel striations and nuchal emargination seen in Polysternon; relatively large intergular scale; straight lateral border of posterior lobe of the plastron and a wide anal notch, in contrast to Polysternon. | |
M. Rabi et al. 2012 | A bothremydid pleurodire of the Foxemydina with the following characters differentiating it from Polysternon: prefrontals do not taper anteriorly; deeper fossa pterygoidei; deeper labial ridge of triturating surface; condylus mandibularis closer to the level of condylus occipitalis; basioccipital shorter than basisphenoid; shell similar to Polysternon but lacking the parallel striations, straight lateral border of posterior lobe of the plastron and a wide anal notch, in contrast to Polysternon. |
