Chamitataxus avitus
Taxonomy
Chamitataxus avitus was named by Owen (2006). Its type specimen is F:AM 27458, a skull (almost complete skull with left and right I1-M1), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Osbornoceros Quarry, which is in a Hemphillian terrestrial horizon in the Chamita Formation of New Mexico. It is the type species of Chamitataxus.
