Taxonomy
Epigymnites was named by Diener (1916) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis-u Tr Ladi Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Gymnitinae by Fantini Sestini (1996); to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Gymnitidae by Spath (1951), Kummel (1960), Tozer (1981), Fantini Sestini (1994) and Vörös (2018).
