Lopnorites rectispinatus was named by Troedsson (1937).

It was recombined as Proceratopyge (Lopnorites) rectispinatus by Peng et al. (2009); it was recombined as Proceratopyge rectispinata by Chatterton and Gibb (2016) and Chatterton (2020).
