Discussion

Diagnosis: Incisors large and evidently procumbent; upper canine with tip of root at the border of orbit directly in front of lacrymal foramen, cingulum encircling base of upper canine; upper premolars slightly but progressively larger and higher and with ectoloph increasing in height; M.1/1 largest tooth in series, M. 2/2 about one third smaller, M. 3/3 almost vestigial; M. 1/ nearly rectangular in outline, no external cingulum, hypocone not separated from protocone by distinct commisure; lacrymal foramen and front edge of orbit above anterior end of P. 3/ ; Maxillary-palatine suture extends anteriorly opposite to the P. 4/; lower canine triangular in outline, lingual cingulum with conspicuous cusp posteriorly, faint labial cingulum; M. /1 nearly square in outline but slightly narrower transversely; mandible short and deep. Other character mentioned in the description may eventually prove diagnostic, and some of those above less so. Dental formula: I2/2, C1/1, P3/3, M3/3

Taxonomy
Cebupithecia sarmientoi was named by Stirton and Savage (1950). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is UCMP 38762, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Cebupithecia.
