R. A. Stirton 1951 (Homunculus tatacoensis) | Slightly less than one fifth larger than Homunculus patagonicus Ameghino, and Homunculus ameghini Bluntschli, canines small, space between canines, 6.0; incisors small crowned; basal edge of symphysis not below lower edge of horizontal ramus; symphysis (11.2) thick from torsus transversus superior eminence to anterior face; anterior symphyseal face smoothly convex but with faint outline of tuberculum marginale anterius; p4 slightly larger than p3;trigonids of molars relatively narrower than in H. patagonicus, nos labial cusp in inflection between protoconid and hypoconid; gratest outside measurements: c-m2=29.6, p3-m2=21.3
T. Setoguchi 1985 (Kondous laventicus) | Molar size is slightly smaller than the contemporaneous Stirtonia but larger than Cebupithecia, the two La Venta primates whose upper teeth can be directly compared with Konodus. Occlusal morphology excludes the possibility that this form represents another Colombian taxon known only by a lower dentition, Neosaimiri. Molars resemble Stirtonia in the presence of a mesostyle within the buccal notch, but differs markedly in the relative smaller size of both buccal cusps, narrowness of the stylar region, lack of an allouatta-like buccal cingulum, and the generaly low-relief morphological pattern. The hypocone is slightly smaller and lower than the protocone and the posthypocrista swings sharply buccal, contrasting the higher and enlarged hypocone and posteriorly directed posthypocrista found in combination in Stirtonia. Cebupithecia differs in lacking a mesostyle, having a strong lingual cingulum, and enlarged hypocone region with a small entoflexus.
T. Setoguhi et al. 1986 (Kondous laventicus) | Similar in size to Stirtonia; upper molar crowns rhomboidal and transverse, with large basin, low hypocone, reduced ectoloph, no lingual cingulum and single fused, platelike root. |
