Cycadopites was named by Wodehouse (1933) [R.P. Wodehouse, 1933]. It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon.

It was assigned to Cycadophyta by Herbst (1965), Vallati et al. (2020); and to Cycadales by Jarzen (1982), Povilauskas et al. (2008), Pérez Pincheira and di Pasquo (2021).
