Taxonomy
Phyllocrinus was named by Orbigny (1850) [Sepkoski's age data: J Bajo-l K Apti Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is not extant. Its type is Phyllocrinus malbosianus. It is the type genus of Phyllocrinidae.

It was assigned to Cyrtocrinida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Phyllocrinidae by Rasmussen (1961), Salamon (2009), Hess and Messing (2011) and Hess (2012).
