Taxonomy

Cardita margaritacea was named by Sowerby (1821).

It was recombined as Pholadomya margaritacea by Yokoyama (1911) and Nagao (1928); it was recombined as Pholadomya (Bucardiomya) margaritacea by Jeffery and Tracey (1997).
