Taxonomy
Emberiza alcoveri was named by Rando et al. (1999). Its type specimen is DZUL CV01-08, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Galería de los Pájaros, Cueva del Viento, Tenerife, which is in a Pleistocene/Holocene cave siliciclastic in Spain.
