Taxonomy
Acanthocarpus osborni was named by Feldmann et al. (2019). Its type specimen is MMNS IP-3780 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is MMNS MS 65.004, Marianna Formation, which is in a Rupelian marine limestone in the Marianna Formation of Mississippi.
