Geyeriella mertensi was named by Herre (1950) [Distinguished from Bargmannia wettsteini in having no or only a weak median keel and in having close-ly-appressed rib-bearers; from other dicamptodontids in the generally more delicate build of its vertebrae and relatively larger basapophyses.].
