Taxonomy
Loxaulax was named by Simpson (1928). Its type is Dipriodon valdensis.
It was assigned to Plagiaulacidae by Simpson (1928), Simpson (1929), Clemens (1963), Hahn (1971), Clemens and Lees (1971), Clemens and Kielan-Jaworowska (1979) and McKenna and Bell (1997); and to Eobaataridae by Kielan-Jaworowska and Hurum (2001) and Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004).
