Pseudoscyliorhinus was named by Müller and Diedrich (1991). It is the type genus of Pseudoscyliorhinidae.
It was assigned to Scyliorhinidae by Müller and Diedrich (1991), Underwood and Ward (2008) and Guinot et al. (2013); and to Pseudoscyliorhinidae by Stumpf et al. (2019).

Diedrich 1991 | Eine auf Kieferzähnen begründete Art mit folgenden Merkmalen: Zähne mit labiolingual stark komprimierten, abgeflachten Kronen, welche in eine gut entwickelte Hauptspitze und mindestens ein Paar deutlich separierter Nebenspitzen unterteilt sind. Kronen mit vertikaler Schmelzstreifung, auf der Lingualseite schwächer entwickelt als auf der Labialseite. Wurzel niedrig, aber in labiolingualer Richtung stark erweitert. Basisfläche daher sehr umfangreich und völlig eben. Wurzel bei allen Zähnen durchweg hemiaulacorhiz. |
