Taxonomy
Hoplopteryx spinulosus was named by Woodward (1942). Its type specimen is AUB 102056, a skeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Sahel Alma (AUB collection), which is in a Santonian carbonate lime mudstone in Lebanon.
