Taxonomy
Surangephyllum elongatum was named by Chandra and Singh (1985). It is not extant. Its type locality is Handapa, which is in a Wordian/Lopingian fluvial-lacustrine horizon in the Hinjir Formation of India. It is the type species of Surangephyllum.
