Aulacopleuridae was named by Angelin (1854). It is not extant. Its type is Aulacopleura.
It was assigned to Aulacopleuracea by Owens and Hammann (1990); to Proetida by Thomas and Owens (1978), Whittington et al. (1997) and Owens and Fortey (2009); to Aulacopleurida by Adrain (2011); and to Aulacopleuroidea by Adrain and Kloc (1997) and Lamsdell and Selden (2015).
It was assigned to Aulacopleuracea by Owens and Hammann (1990); to Proetida by Thomas and Owens (1978), Whittington et al. (1997) and Owens and Fortey (2009); to Aulacopleurida by Adrain (2011); and to Aulacopleuroidea by Adrain and Kloc (1997) and Lamsdell and Selden (2015).
