Spinocypris was named by Kozur (1971). It is not extant.

It was assigned to Bairdiidae by Crasquin-Soleau (2006); to Cypridoidea by Sebe et al. (2013), Forel (2017) and Forel (2017); and to Paracyprididae by Forel (2022).
