Morales et al. 1998Stenoplesictidae of the size of the primitive European Miocene hyaenid Protictiiherium crassum. p2 reduced, premolars high and narrow. m1 with high trigonid and short talonid with a small hypoconid. P4 narrow and elongate, with strong parastyle and conical protocone. M2 small (unknown in A. schmidtkittleri). M1 with well developed parastylar area, shortened in the type species.
