Type specimen: USNM 323772, a skull. Its type locality is Lee Creek, Pungo River Fm., which is in an Aquitanian/Langhian marine carbonate in the Pungo River Formation of North Carolina.
Ecology: aquatic carnivore
Distribution: found only at Lee Creek, Pungo River Fm.
