Type specimen: AMNH 6356, a partial shell (nearly complete anterior half of the plastron). Its type locality is Ergil Obo (Ergilin Dzo sublocality), which is in an Eocene terrestrial sandstone in the Ergilin Dzo Formation of Mongolia.
