Type specimens:
- Pitar uvasana: ANSP 4457 (neotype). Its type locality is UCMP 3162, upper Deer Valley, which is in a Ypresian coastal sandstone in the Meganos Formation of California.
- Meretrix tejonensis: Its type locality is CAS loc. 244, Live Oak Canyon, which is in an Eocene marginal marine sandstone/shale in the Tejon Formation of California.
