Amphibamiformes was named by Schoch (2019) [The most inclusive clade containing Amphibamus grandiceps, but not Dissorophus multicinctus (Schoch and Milner, 2014).]. It was considered monophyletic by Schoch (2019).

It was assigned to Xerodromes by Schoch (2019).
