Taxonomy
Felis lacustris was named by Gazin (1933). Its type specimen is USNM 12611, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Lynx lacustris by Savage (1960), Hulbert (1992); it was recombined as Puma lacustris by Seymour (1999).
