Arecipites regio was named by Jaramillo and Dilcher (2001) [Dimensions in equatorial view. ]. It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is UFP 4, 7.6 x 85.3, a microspore (Pollen grain).

T. Van der Hammen and C. Garcia de Mutis 1966 (Retimonocolpites regio)Monocolpate. Sculpture very fine, micro-reticulate to micro-foveolate. Colpus in the middle apparently with a not very well defined margo. Pollen grain oval, long (index pollinis 2). Colpus long, of the same size as, or somewhat shorter than the length of the grain. Size of the grain: long 47-53 μ, wide 20-25 μ.
