Mya nitens was named by Montagu (1808) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Caribbean.]. It is extant. It is the type species of Ervilia.

It was recombined as Ervilia nitens by Woodring (1982).

Synonyms
  • Ervilia venezuelana was named by Weisbord (1964) [Distribution: Venezuela: Anzoategui, Sucre.]. It is extant.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Ervilia nitens by Rosenberg (2005).
