Taxonomy
Aelureidopus baconi was named by Woodward (1915). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mogok cave, which is in a Pleistocene cave horizon in Myanmar. It is the type species of Aelureidopus.
It was recombined as Ailuropoda melanoleuca baconi by Wang (1974) and Chorn and Hoffman (1978); it was recombined as Ailuropoda baconi by Davis (1964) and Jin et al. (2007).
