It was recombined as Dinocyon (Borophagus) meandrinus by Matthew (1902); it was recombined as Dinocyon meandrinus by Matthew (1902); it was recombined as Pliocyon meandrinus by Matthew (1924), Stock and Furlong (1926), Johnston and Christian (1941); it was considered a nomen dubium by VanderHoof and Gregory (1940), McGrew (1944), Webb (1969), Hunt (1998).
