Taxonomy
Agaricia elegantula was named by d'Orbigny (1850). Its type specimen is lectotype MNHN.F.A26574, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Oroseris elegantula by Milne-Edwards and Haime (1860), de Fromentel (1861); it was recombined as Periseris elegantula by Morycowa and Misik (2005).
