Taxonomy
Chama hippopus was named by Linnaeus (1758) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; west Pacific. COMMENTS: m. kosnik taxon no: 10328]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Hippopus hippopus by Abrard (1946), Higo et al. (1999), Wilson (2002) and Harzhauser et al. (2008).
