Cardium arenicola was named by Reeve (1845) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Miocene-Recent; Indo-Pacific.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Cardium (Trachycardium) arenicola by Abrard (1947); it was recombined as Acrosterigma (Vasticardium) arenicola by Hendy (2007).
