Taxonomy
Gephuropora varia was named by Volkova et al. (1978). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Baraniy River, Sette Daban Mountains, unit 39, which is in a Llandovery shallow subtidal limestone in the Khandyg Formation of the Russian Federation.
