Taxonomy
Fungiastraea (Fungiastraeopsis) subpolygonalis was named by Morycowa (1971). It is not extant. Its type locality is Valea Izvorul Alb, Rarau area, NE Romania, which is in an Aptian shallow subtidal marl in Romania. It is the type species of Fungiastraea (Fungiastraeopsis).
