Taxonomy
Wadilemur elegans was named by Simons (1997). Its type specimen is CGM 42211, a mandible (right mandible with P3-M3 and partial ascending ramus), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Quarry L-41 (Jebel Qatrani Formation), which is in a Rupelian lacustrine mudstone in the Jebel Qatrani Formation of Egypt. It is the type species of Wadilemur.
