Taxonomy
Meandrina lotharinga was named by Michelin (1843). Its type specimen is neotype MNHN.F.B12734, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Isastraea lotharinga by Milne-Edwards and Haime (1857); it was recombined as Microphyllia lotharinga by Etallon and Thurmann (1864); it was recombined as Meandrophyllia lotharinga by D'Orbigny (1849), d'Orbigny (1850), Baron-Szabo (2003).
