Mactra parameces was named by Cossmann (1886) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; western Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Spisula parameces by Glibert (1985); it was recombined as Spisula (Austromactra) parameces by Pacaud and Le Renard (1995), Le Renard and Pacaud (1995).
