Adapis magnus leenhardti was named by Stehlin (1912) [neotype YPM PU 11481 (Quercy region, horizon and locality unknown)]. Its type specimen is Montauban 3, a skull (cranium), and it is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Leptadapis leenhardti by Godinot and Couette (2008).
