It was recombined as Symphemia semipalmata by Brewster (1887); it was recombined as Catoptrophorus semipalmatus by Wetmore (1962), Campbell (1976), Parmalee (1992), Steadman et al. (2003) and Broughton (2004); it was recombined as Tringa semipalmata by Clements et al. (2017).
