Phyllopoda was named as a subclass. It is extant.

It was reranked as the unranked clade Phyllopoda by M'Coy (1849).

It was assigned to Entomostraca by M'Coy (1849); and to Branchiopoda by Martin and Davis (2001), Hegna and Ren (2010), Schwentner et al. (2018), Hegna et al. (2020) and Geyer et al. (2024).
