Ellipsoglandulina was named by Silvestri (1900) [Sepkoski's age data: K Turo R]. It was considered unknown by Hayward et al. (2012).

It was assigned to Foraminiferida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Ellipsoidinidae by Cushman (1927), Hayward et al. (2012).
