Periconodon helveticus
Taxonomy
Pelycodus helveticus was named by Rütimeyer (1891). Its type specimen is BNM Ef 366, a maxilla (partial left maxilla containing M1-2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Egerkingen, Huppersand fissure, which is in a Bartonian fissure fill horizon in Switzerland.
It was recombined as Periconodon helveticus by Stehlin (1916), Tattersall and Schwartz (1983), Schwartz and Tattersall (1983), Godinot (1998) and Franzen (2004).
