Taxonomy
Astrea gracilis was named by Muenster (1829). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Centrastrea gracilis by D'Orbigny (1849), d'Orbigny (1850); it was recombined as Thamnastraea gracilis by Milne-Edwards and Haime (1857); it was recombined as Thamnasteria gracilis by Koby (1887), Turnsek and Mihajlovic (1973).
