Taxonomy

Eohelea was named by Petrunkevitch (1957). Its type is Eohelea stridulans.

It was assigned to Eoheleinae by Petrunkevitch (1957); to Stilobezziini by Szadziewski (1988); to Ceratopogoninae by Szadziewski (1990); to Ceratopogonidae by Carpenter (1992); and to Ceratopogonini by Borkent and Wirth (1997), Borkent (2013), Stebner and Szadziewski (2017), Borkent and Dominiak (2020).
